How I Ended Up Blogging
Hi My name is Rayyan I am 20 years old, I live in the United Kingdom, and I have way too much free time on my hands. I am in the closing stage of my 2 gap years from education and I will take on my first academic term, in September, at the University of Liverpool, for my Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. My time away from the education I felt has changed me in ways I cannot describe. In this short time, I have been fortunate to have met some great & inspiring people that have changed the course of my life forever. I have always been pretty relaxed and laid back, some would say lazy, about everything in life, I was always the type to be late and put in minimum effort. I would procrastinate doing my schoolwork and I would never study or do anything I knew I should be doing. Even when I started to become stressed and overwhelmed, I would just sit there and play video games to try and shut out my responsibilities.
This all began to change however, when I was gifted a book by one of my Coaches during my time in the United States, It was called The Breakthrough Code and was my first real exposure to any sort of self-improvement material. After reading this book on the journey to fight in the Brazilian Jiu Jitu World Championships In California I felt changed by it. When it came time to fight I managed to put on one of the best performances of my life. Sadly I did not end up a world champion but after being inspired to put my best foot forward and to go for it with every fibre of being I felt like a winner! I had created a breakthrough (pun intended) within myself all thanks to the knowledge and wisdom inside that book. It had ignited some kind of fire within me.
After I had returned back to the UK slowly but surely I began reading more and more of this kind of material to work on myself internally, this then began to extend to topics like psychology, finance, even Buddhism & meditation anything that I liked found myself wanting to know more about. I realised I enjoyed the feeling of learning about something new and becoming that little bit better every day.
Fast forward a year later and I am still reading, and learning to try and better myself however I ran into some sort of roadblock, beginning to ask myself what is the point of it all. What’s the point of all this reading and trying to gain more knowledge if you are just going to hoard it all for yourself. There must be some greater purpose. That’s where the idea of a blog came in I could document the things I had learned and my journey and experiences learning them and I could just put them out there for everyone to see and hopefully, at least one person on the internet will find something I am saying remotely interesting or useful.
In essence, this blog is a way for me to share my learning & experiences with others in the hopes that they may derive some value from it.
